The redesigned 2021 Honda CR-V, an update on a Kiwi favourite officially launches this week with a refreshed exterior design, new and upgraded features and turbocharged powertrain, along with Honda Sensing technology now standard on all grades.

Since its launch 23 years ago the CR-V nameplate has amassed over 33,000 registrations locally, making it the 3 rd most popular crossover SUV on our roads*.

The local line up is strengthened with the return of the popular Touring grades, offering significant specification improvements on the outgoing S and Active variants, including, but not limited to: Handsfree power tailgate with foot operation, Honda Sensing safety suite, Lane watch camera, all-round parking sensors with parking aid, smart entry & push-button start, leather-wrapped wheel, advanced display audio with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and in-built Garmin navigation app.

The Sport 7 grade has also received a significant feature lift with the addition of Honda Sensing, Handfree Power Tailgate, Qi- wireless charging pad, privacy glass, full LED headlights, LED fog lights, and active cornering lights.

The new Sport Premium grade has all this new spec, with the addition of an exclusive wheel & suspension package to provide a more sophisticated driving experience.

Clever thinking continues with the application of i-dual zone climate control across the range. The intelligent system features GPS-linked solar sensors to calculate the sun’s position and automatically adjust the cabin airflow and temperature to compensate.

A more upscale and distinctive presence has been crafted courtesy of front end redesign, featuring a blackout grille, broader opening for the intercooler and sharp gunmetal trim. Sophistication continues with dark tinted taillight lenses and a dark chrome tailgate garnish at the rear, finished off with a redesigned bumper and exhausts.

New design alloys feature across all grades, 18 inch dark grey with machined finish on the Touring & Sport 7, while a larger 19” light grey Y spoke design is exclusive to the Sport Premium.

Two new colours are available on the 2021 model, Cosmic Blue metallic and Ignite Red metallic, which expand the colour line up to 7 distinct choices.

Inside, the CR-V’s spacious and tech-savvy cabin gets a redesigned centre console, with illuminated USB ports relocated into a more convenient location. Sport grades now come standard with Qi wireless charging pad.

The deep storage box between the front seats is retained, with the clever access tray providing three easy ways to use the space.

Best in class space and packaging continues, with 5 and 7 seat configurations in the line-up. A near flat floor maximises rear-seat passenger comfort in the 2nd row, along with USB Fast charging ports & rear ventilation. On 7 seat grades, the 2nd-row seating mechanisms have been revised to make them easier and smoother to operate when accessing the 3rd row.

DNA Driving performance and feeling is better than ever through improvements in response, stability, and steering across the range. Specific to the Sport Premium is exclusive suspension, steering, and electronics settings to ensure the highest levels of comfort and control with the newly equipped 19” alloy wheels.

All grades feature enhanced NVH through the enhancement of sound deadening materials and chassis refinements.

Now all 2021 CR-Vs are equipped with the 1.5-litre DOHC VTEC, direct-injected and turbocharged power plant. Rated at 140kw, with 240 Nm of torque, it delivers incredibly refined and responsive performance across the engine’s full driving range.

Power is transmitted through a sporty continuously variable transmission (CVT) with smooth-shifting Honda G-Shift control logic. Honda’s Real Time all wheel drive system is paired with an innovative intelligent control system to provide improved traction in any situation.

Using the E-DPS (Electronic control Dual Pump System) torque is monitored and distributed to balance traction, acceleration, and fuel consumption. This system not only assists in low traction environments but also under acceleration and spirited driving.

The model range includes 2AWD options, a touring Variant at 43,990 +ORC, and a very highly equipped Sport Premium Variant at $51,790+ORC.

Thanks to the Honda Price Promise (now in its 20th year) Honda New Zealand can offer these models at competitive prices, and know that every customer nationwide will get the same great deal, no matter who they are, where they live and what time of the month they buy.
